Through The Barricades
Recorded by:
Ryan Williams
From the Album:
Year of the Skype
Lyrics and notesI look to a day
when all the road blocks in our way
are doused in flames, no barricades
will keep us from freedom.
Another kind of life
free from the torment and the strife
that's present in the masses' plight
this is the reason
why I write the songs
why we fight the wrongs
that take place in our sleep
When justice isn't there
I just wouldn't care
to ever speak of peace
And still this is what we seek
while we are pushing through the streets
our fists raised high up while we scream
for something better.
And while we organize
and build our new world in our own lives
forging strong and loving ties
we know that this fight is forever
and this is
why I write the songs
why we fight the wrongs
that take place in our sleep
When justice isn't there
I just wouldn't care
to ever speak of peace
We know that what we long for won't come tomorrow
We know that we may never see it in our lives
But we know that we can't just sit back gripped by sorrow
It hurts to much that we can't do other than try
I've seen so many changes since I decided to fight
So many people care but we can't do it all on our own
This is why we try to bring to cause of oppression to light
One day we'll all come together and throw all the rulers from their thrones.
Yes, this is why I write the songs
why we fight the wrongs
that take place in our sleep
When justice isn't there
I just wouldn't care
to ever speak of peace
