Lyrics and notes

I heard the chords before the words, I felt it in my feet
tapping out the rhythm of the rebellion's heartbeat
Then in came the singing charging everything that's wrong
calling everyone to action, hoping this could be the song
the one to wake the masses, to open up their eyes
expose the truth and show them everything they knew before were lies
The melody played background as the words pierced through my heart
I wondered if one song could make the revolution start
I felt that every word fell perfect, written with clarity
that must be present to show people something they could never see.

CHORUS:
Oh, this could be a day like any other before
or this could be the day that the people declare war
a war against the tyranny that has chained them to the board
moving them like the game pieces, never gaining their own reward

I marched through D.C. with 100,000 strong
stood in front of the Whitehouse calling them on all that they've done wrong
Eugene and Miami and other uprisings
never led to revolution but the day will come soon
when enough is enough not one more travesty will slide
the day is on the horizon when it will be time to turn the tide.

CHORUS
