Media Song
Recorded by:
Slugs Revenge
From the Album:
Revenge is Never a Four Letter Word
Lyrics and notesWell, in spite the other day I turned on that old T.V.
I didn't see none of you, and I didn't see none of me
and when I get my news from General Electric's N.B.C.
I can't help but question this disinformation calamity
because we want something from the people
from the hearts of everyone
not conglomerized, broadcasted lies
at the point of corporate gun.
And when I listen to the outlets corporations own and fund
I can taste the evil motives of the gun holders keeping info spun.
CHORUS:
Because we live in a system based on privatization
if the public then it might cause a big sensation
so in irony, the way they suppress this education
is by privatizing the public's very source of information.
Well we all live in the dark as reporters live in fear
of company-funded pressure groups who make sure they adhere
to official agendas, regulating what we hear
as the narrow range of capitalist politics is worse and worse each year.
And then we've got a flow of info lacking authenticity
with re-read press releases from the P.R. industry
who also provide promo videos for us to see
disguised as valid news reports and flashing on the screens of our T.V.
CHORUS
And so we live in a world where all reality is censored
so we stay dazzled by anything but truth
but the truth-seekers are rising
and each moment we're devising
the demise we know these lies are destined to.
Because they can't privatize the airwaves that we're stealing from their hands
as we're rocking that guerilla radio
and they can't privatize the independent outlets we create
to help fuel a revolution and expand the horizons of what we know.
And they can't privatize good old-fashioned word of mouth
as nurtured knowledge breaks its shell and grows
unleashed like an invasive plant
and doing all we're told we can't
until that final moment when the truth sets us free and we know
We can destroy this world based on privatization
and build a new one based on cooperation
and no longer will they be able to suppress this education
by privatizing our very source of information.
