Lyrics and notes

CHORUS:
They're cutting our buses and raising the fare
while the slick politicians pretend they care
and the people cutting the buses drive their cars everywhere
in their three-piece suits, their fancy flare
Then they sit in their office with their central air
as they "right-size" the system they're quite aware
that the people they affect are being pushed into despair
but when we finally come together then they'd better beware.

Well I depend of the bus to get to work everyday
while you drive your fancy car making ten times my pay
and you talk about how transit needs to be "right-sized"
I know it doesn't effect you but you're messing with people's lives.

And the state put out the funding, you only have to match
fifteen percent but even that's too much to ask
you give us shit choices proposing a drink tax
you know the restaurants will never let it pass.

Oh they gentrify the neighborhoods and say it's for the good
of the people that get displaced from their homes, you'd think by now it'd be understood
when the people that depend on the buses can't find a way
around the city where they work and shop and love and play
then can't afford to drive a car and don't have access to a bus
will you ignore the lives that you've ruined and say the development was just?

So Dan Onorato, what do you have to say?
How 'bout instead of the buses, we right-size your pay
And Steve Bland, you get a big, "Fuck You!" too
you bust the unions while getting richer and we see right through you.

You want the transit workers to lose job security
so you can further fund the gentrification of the city
until no one that takes buses can afford to live here anymore
the long term plan's to feed the wealthy class while kicking us out the door.
