Lyrics and notes

I don't want to speak of revolution
I want to do it, I want to build it
I want to fill my whole life with the act of creating a new world for us
I see so much potential
in resistance, it's essential
that we manifest our dreams to plant the seeds that grow into community.

CHORUS:
Oh we all have our problems and we're told that we must solve them
but they told us they're disorders and they gave us pills
And they told us we should listen to our elected politicians
who perpetuate a system that oppresses and kills
But we comforted each other and we listened to the pain
that we all shared as we sat together realizing that the source is much the same
And through this we formed relationships based on mutual aid
Now we take to the streets and we are not ashamed.

I don't want to act like I'm not fucked up from this culture we've been brought up in
I want to talk about what scares me
I want to hear what scares you
I want to build a backbone that comprises all of our trust
where no one feels isolated or alone

Because living in this resistance can be frightening enough
it seems like the world will never change
and the government and mainstream world will huff and huff and puff
trying to blow down our communities just the same.

So we'll build this world together with our hope that we can make
a new world that allows us to be free and give more than we take
and we'll stand together arm in arm, holding each other strong
they can push but we'll push harder and continue moving on
